Simplified Reminder Mode

Clear, Reliable Reminders: One Simple Choice for Email or Push

Reminders in Note My Life are now set by a single choice: Email or Push. New accounts get a clear onboarding flow, and you always know how you’ll be reminded.

We built reminders in Note My Life so you could keep your best lessons in sight, not buried in a list, or left waiting in your inbox. But there’s a truth: too many switches and overlapping settings can make it unclear how you’ll actually be reminded. Today, that old tangle is gone.

What we shipped

Reminders now come with a clear, single question: “How should we remind you?” Your choices are Email or Push notification. There is no Off switch. Every active account gets reminders by at least one method.

New for everyone:

  • Settings now shows only one main reminder option, a clear choice between Email and Push.
  • Email is delivered to your inbox, as before.
  • Push means reminders go to every device you have set up for notifications (phone, tablet, or desktop).
  • There are no extra toggles to disable reminders entirely. Every account with access stays on.
  • SMS toggles and multiple overlapping switches are removed, cleaning up the experience.

First-time users get a focused setup:

  • When you join Note My Life, you'll be guided through an onboarding flow.
  • The first step is writing your first note. The next step is setting up Push reminders.
  • If Push is available and you allow it, reminders will use Push. If it’s not supported or you choose not to allow notifications, reminders will use Email, so you never miss what’s important.
  • The onboarding always completes, no matter your device or permission choices. If something doesn’t work, you get reminders by email automatically.

Day to day, here’s what changes:

  • In Settings, switching to Email happens immediately; you get reminders in your inbox right away.
  • Choosing Push opens a focused device setup. Once you successfully enable notifications, Push becomes your reminder method for every device you’ve added.
  • When Push is on, reminders are sent to all your registered devices. If a Push notification can’t reach any of your devices, we automatically fall back to Email.
  • If you ever move back to Email, your registered devices are quietly kept in the background. Switching to Push again will resume reminders on every device you previously set up.

Why this matters

  • No more double-checking checkboxes, switches, or wondering why you missed a reminder.
  • Every reminder goes out through a method you’ve chosen and can check for yourself.
  • There’s always a backup (email) if Push fails or is temporarily unavailable.

What about privacy?

Your notes and reminders stay private. None of these changes affect the way we protect your privacy, reminders still use only the information needed for delivery, and your notes are never read or logged during setup or delivery attempts.
